May 10th, 2010 Scotch TL901 Thermal Laminator Review
One of the more prominent brands in the laminating machine business is none other than the Post-it champ itself. 3M Scotch has a line of laminator machines for office or home office use and one of the more popular ones is the Scotch TL901 Thermal Laminator.
As the name implies, this model is roll laminator that works with laminating pouches. It can work with up to 9 inches wide documents and is equipped with 2 roller system and 2 temperature settings (yes, it is a hot and cold roll laminator in one). It works well with photographs and accepts up to 5 millimeter thick pouches or laminating films. It weighs only about 5.4 pounds or about 2.45 kilograms so it’s as portable as any other notebook computer or small printer inside most offices these days.
One of its best features is that can be operated using batteries! Battery operation also helps speed up warming time such that there is virtually no waiting for it to warm up.
This machine will work with letter-sized documents, photographs and other documents or crafts using Scotch thermal laminating pouches. The manufacturer boasts of a durable and intelligent design in this piece of device and true enough, most user reviews appear to indicate that this machine is as robust as they can go. Laminated documents are also reported to last longer compared to those that are done using other devices made by other brands, even if the documents are used in the classroom setting which one would guess is not the most ideal situation for any document.
Bottomline, this machine is one of the best and most reliable out there. But it gets better as they are currently priced very surprisingly low at about $33 on Amazon. To maximize the quality benefits of this machine, use it with its corresponding Scotch laminating supplies.
